The IRS has introduced a new, digitally authenticated Tax Compliance Report. Taxpayers can easily download this document to prove their tax standing when applying for jobs, loans, government benefits, and other services.

According to a Thursday news release, the report includes a built-in digital certificate. This allows banks, government agencies, and other receiving organizations to verify that the document is genuine. The digital certificate is designed to protect taxpayer privacy and guarantee that the report which confirms whether someone filed and paid their taxes on time has not been altered.

“By providing a secure, digitally authenticated report, the IRS is making it easier for taxpayers to access and share important information while protecting privacy and data integrity,” IRS CEO Frank Bisignano said in the release.

Taxpayers can generate and download the report on demand through their IRS Individual Online Account. This new tool builds on recent account upgrades; in February 2025, the IRS began allowing users to access their Form W-2 (Wage and Tax Statement) and Form 1095-A (Health Insurance Marketplace Statement) directly from the portal for the first time.
